Installing Sound Clips in HyperCard‚Ñ¢
Sound Clips includes Apple’s ResCopy utility that allows you to install sounds in any HyperCard stack.
NOTE: ResCopy allows you to install sounds in any file or document.
To install Sound Clips in any HyperCard stack:
• Double click on ResCopy (ResCopy is a HyperCard stack, therefore you need HyperCard to use it). ResCopy’s operation is very similar to Font/DA Mover’s.
• Select a sound on the left hand side. You may need to use the Close and Open buttons to locate the sounds.
• Open the stack you wish to move the sound into on the right hand side. Select the sound on the left and click Copy. ResCopy installs the sound.
You may play a sound by selecting it and clicking on PLAY.
You can install as many different sounds as you wish.
Once you install a sound in a HyperCard stack, you can use it inside the stack with the HyperScript “PLAY” command.
This is a sample button script that plays a sound:
On mouseup
PLAY “Dog Bark - Big”
End mouseup
This script will play the barking dog sound clip whenever you click on the HyperCard button. Make sure you type the sound name in quotes with the name of the sound resource you moved into your stack.
If you click on the button and HyperCard doesn’t play the sound, open the stack with ResCopy and make sure that the sound resource name is identical to the name you typed in your script.
NOTE: When we refer to HyperCard in this manual, we also refer to HyperCard-like programs like SuperCard‚Ñ¢ or Plus‚Ñ¢.
